Andrew Smith is always looking to lead the way with trends and ideas. This shoot was exactly that. He wanted to take the colour prediction for 2018 from Pantone which was Ultraviolet and put it into hair. He had experimented with creating a colour that matched the predicted trend. Once it was ready he got in-touch with me and we organised something between Christmas and New year.With model Maisie Rose on board, I arranged for a makeup artist to join our shoot and in this case it was the lovely (and heavily pregnant at the time) Lee O’Driscoll. We wanted a few different styles showing off the colour to its full potential.My lighting setup as per my preference was a simple one, a beauty dish on a boom arm directly in-front of the model with a small amount of fill to one side. This helped keep the hair sharp and generate some nice shine on the hair. Background was just a neutral grey colour, to keep the focus completely on the hair.The has been published a few times including in the hairdressers Journal and Hairstyles only:
