Earlier this year I had the pleasure of shooting with Be My Guest Salon in Southsea. A couple of incredible hair stylists in Co-owner Cilesté Makkink-Rogers and stylist Ines Macedo were creating the styles and I was commissioned to produce some images for use in promoting the salon but also to submit as a competition entry to Revlon Stylemasters. Both stylists had to produce three looks to show: Commercial, Editorial and Avant-Garde looks. Images needed to be black and white to the images were to show the styles and texture, rather than the colour.I love shooting with hair stylists as they are always so creative and positive. It makes my life so much more fulfilled when working on these projects. I shot these images within their salon, which makes much more sense as all of their tools and products are on hand for them to do their job. My studio is portable so I am able to arrive with everything in the car and I have a fully working studio within 45 mins.Whilst shooting these images I also had the chance to shoot a bit of video whilst actually taking the images. I was able to set a camera up just below my stills camera to catch the models doing their thing. The images came out fantastically well, and have been published in several magazines including use by the Good Salon Guide. Check out the images above and the videos below:
