One of my favourite things to do, is to shoot Actors, Dancers and professionals head shots. Over the past few weeks I’ve had the pleasure of shooting a few. First up was Actor Christopher Strickland. He contacted me via my website, looking for some simple but effective head shots to send to castings and add to various online profiles.This studio shoot was a nice simple one, grey background with one light on the background and one on the subject. We wanted to keep things as simple as possible. I asked Christopher to show different emotions and facial expressions to get him to loosen up. The next series of images I shot we nailed the look we wanted. These sessions can last up to an hour and a half, however generally i can get the image within half an hour.We also shot some images outside the studio, however it was a very bright day and the results were not as flattering due to the time of day. Head Shots
Next up was a student at Bournemouth University, she is studying Film Production and specialises in Sound. She contacted me as she needed a head shots to send off with her final major project. This was shot on location in her house in Bournemouth. I arrived and after 20 mins set up and moving a few bits of furniture to fit the background in, we were ready to shoot. She wanted something that made her look friendly and approachable. Lauren is a generally happy personality so we decided that having her smile, would be a good representation.I had her sit at various angles to the camera and turn her head back towards me. After half an hour of shooting we had the required images. She was able to select with ease her favourites, obviously I gave her my opinion. In this case she was running to a tight deadline, so once shot, i drove straight back to Fareham and edited the shots that night. Here are her shots:
I am available for head shots commissions at quite short notice. Due to the nature of the shoots, they don’t require much time or space, so I can generally shoot in your house or just about anywhere.
