Over the last couple of weeks, I have been looking out of the office window at the amazing weather wishing I wasn’t editing photos. I really wanted to get out and shoot in the good weather, which as we all know in England, is pretty precious! Fortunately my Makeup artist, Roxie, was also game to do something. So we recruited the services of the beautiful Jade Natasha and set about doing something.
I love shooting on the beach, I don’t what it is but there is something that just gets my juices going on a beach shoot. The light is always great on the beach, thanks to the sea it reflects lots and so even on the dullest of days you can get some incredible shots. This shoot was to take place on Hayling Island near Portsmouth, its local to us all and it has plenty of locations to offer.
I had seen a shoot some time ago by an American photographer which originally this shoot was to be based on, however it took on its own life once the styling was done. Originally it was going to be black and white and quite moody, however with blue skies and seas, it seemed stupid to not use colour.
After arriving and walking for a mile or so to the location, Roxie and Jade sorted the first outfit for the shoot, and we were off. I really enjoy shooting with Jade as she is very fluent. After a few minutes she is pulling out poses that any model would be proud of. She must dread the shoots with me as I always get her to do something random, this time it was seaweed! I wanted her to appear that she had just been washed up on the shore. So Roxie found some seaweed and we set her up, this came out really good. Well after the first attempt when a crab had Jade running for the hills!
Several dresses later and a dip in the sea and we were finished. I am delighted with this set of images, they are possibly my best to date! Heres some of the images, check them out:
