Monday Morning with a Twist

Today I was asked to photograph Kat. Not for the first time, I photographed her last year a couple of times. Today we were doing some more sexy images of her, we discussed locations within her house, and decided on the bathroom and a window in her lounge where the light was very brightly coming through. Kat is lovely women who is very relaxed posing.

We started in her bathroom in the bath. She filled it with bubbles and posed away for me. A few of the resulting shots are below:

After shooting in the bathroom we moved downstairs, and whilst having a quick break before getting up to the window, I got her to pose for this shot.

kat4

I wanted the shots in the window to really utilise the available light. Kat was originally lying down for this shot, however got up quickly for a rest, and as she did so pulled this fantastic pose, so I quickly got her to do it again and got a few shots.

kat5

These images are quite graphic looking and really stylized. They will look fantastic on the wall of a bedroom or any other room for that matter.

If you like what you see and are interested in having a shoot like this of your own, please contact me by email or phone to book. Shoot price is £50 which includes a free print.

Street Photography take 2

After my trip to Fareham on Wednesday this week, I found myself in the same situation today. I had to go to town and so I took my camera along.

_DGP2154

Continuing on from my previous post, I looked for stories amongst the people of Fareham. The guy in the photo above caught my eye because of what he was reading. Property today saying “We’re on the up!” I can’t say this reader looked very convinced!

_DGP2158

For the first time, I noticed signs all over Fareham for Litter Fines, I’ve no idea how long they have been in action, however fixed penalty being issued here for littering. Hopefully not with the cannon!

_DGP2163

This lady was sat soaking up the sun in the centre of Fareham. I was attracted to her face, just the wrinkles and lived in appearance she had. She gave me a bit of a withering look as I took this shot.

_DGP2168

On my out of town, I walked past the obligatory Mcdonalds, and there seems no recession on in there! In fact they were as busy as ever! No wonder the government continues to talk about people being obese. This couple of girls just sat in the sun enjoying their McCholesterol with fries and and a drink.

_DGP2174

Well on the way home, I was walking through the a cut through known as the gillies. As I walked through the arches under the railway, this couple were in front of me. I just loved the way the light came through the arch.

Hard times in Fareham

I was inspired to go into town and do some Street Photography today, after watching a video on Vimeo. Some American guys who just wonder around the towns photographing people and general day to day life. Not having the car today, the only option available was Fareham, so off I went in search of interesting people.

Whilst walking through Fareham today, listening to the optimistic messages of the latest Bon Jovi album, it struck me how hard times are for the people of local town, Fareham. In fact the more I looked, the more I noticed it. I had taken my camera with me and noticed a busker outside the front of what used to be Woolworths. A sad reminder of how poor things have got, I couldn’t help but wonder, if he had once been an employee? I couldn’t resist a quick snap of him, so here it is!

woolworths busker
Further down the road more or less outside my bank, I noticed an old guy say on a bench smoking, not very concerned with anything. It would seem that no matter how hard things are here, people are just getting on with it. Good for them I reckon, with bit of luck and hopefully a change of government we could be on the up! Here’s hoping.

Product Photography

It occurred to me this week, since leaving my previous employer, I haven’t done any commercial work. Mainly due to the fact I haven’t marketed myself for that form of work. I decided it was about time I did some.

I scoured the house in search of something interesting to photograph, I came across the Tequila and Southern comfort. A wonder they are still there but they were smuggled to the back of the cupboard. I set the studio up in the lounge (as you do) and set about producing something I would be happy with.

The following images are the results, I am quite pleased considering I didn’t really plan how I would do them, I just got on with it. They are simple but classy product shots and give an indication of the images I am capable of producing. I would say I might try again with them at some point but I doubt they will make it for very long now we know they are there!

Snow portraits

When I woke up this morning I was quite happy to see a good few inches of snow on the ground. I was wondering who I could find to be my subject in the beautiful wintery conditions, when my lovely girlfriend announced she wasn’t going in to work. So we got ourselves wrapped up for the arctic and ventured out into the local area.

On the field at the rear of the house we found children having great fun, people sledging and even building an igloo! That however wasnt my purpose for being out in the snow, I decided I needed to do something I had been meaning to do for ages; portraits of my lovey girlfriend Jen.

So without further delay, here they are and I have to say for the first portrait of the year, I am delighted with them, she looks so beautiful.

Festive Portrait – Baby Sienna

Last week, I visited and took some portraits of baby Sienna. As the last time, I had photographed her mother Justine during her pregnancy; it was great to do a follow-up shoot.

Being a festive time of year, Sienna was dressed for the occasion. The shoot was in their house, and we decided to just use the lounge, rather than set up a background. Sienna was a star, and performed on request. She even posed for on of the shots below.

Wai-Lun & Amys Traditional Chinese Wedding

On Monday I was photographing the wedding of Wai-Lun and Amy. It was a traditional Chinese wedding, and a completely new experience to us. It was a vibrant and energetic day with a traditional ceremony followed by a feast at Kam’s Palace in Park Gate, Hampshire.

The day started at the brides house in Southampton, where she prepared for the ceremony. Dressed in traditional red Chinese wedding garments, she and her bridesmaids awaited the arrival of the groom and his groomsmen. Following the traditional customs of the ceremony, the groom and groomsmen had to play door games in order to get to the brides door.

After the door games, the bride and groom continued on to the next tradition of the tea ceremony. This involves offering tea to the elder relatives as a sign of respect. The couple then receive gifts in return. The party then moved on to another venue in Chandlers Ford to perform the tea ceremony for the groom’s family.

Following the tea ceremonies the reception was held at Kam’s Palace in Park Gate, Hampshire. The building itself is an authentic, stunning Chinese-style building with traditional decor within. The party arrived, and we shot a number of group photographs in the traditional format. The symbols on the wall relate specifically to their names and the marriage itself. After a period to relax, the bride changed into her second outfit – a white dress. The couple greeted their guests, giving a short speech and then a banquet of 12 courses of traditional Chinese cuisine followed.

Halfway through the banquet, the bride changed again into a red dress. They visited each table to toast the guests. Finally towards the end of the day, she changed once again into a blue dress to wish the guests farewell and get ready for the evening’s celebrations.

After a day experiencing a new culture and taking in the region of two thousand photographs, we left the party. Both myself and my other photographer, Andy, would like to say a big thank you for making us so very welcome. We learnt many things about the Chinese culture and food during the day, and we look forward to shooting more in the future.

Sexy boudoir images

Yesterday, I had a photo session with Kat in Hampshire. She wanted some images that were a bit sexier than the usual! So I turned up prepared, and we decided to make this a boudoir-type shoot. She has a slightly alternative look, and so I decided this would be quite a quirky twist on the classic boudoir images! Kat was a star and wasn’t phased by anything I asked of her! I am delighted with the resulting images, they are really different to anything I have ever done before!
